Bahia Bamburro

Educational game · Centelha program

An RPG adventure game with classic video game graphics in which the player travels back in time to live the landmarks of Bahia’s history.

The story behind the project

Bahia Bamburro is an RPG adventure game with classic video game graphics in which the player travels back in time to live the landmarks of Bahia’s history, such as the Malê Revolt, the War of Canudos and July 2 Independence, along with the work of Castro Alves and Jorge Amado and the Afro-Brazilian religions. That is where the name comes from: living the state’s cultural and historical richness.

The idea came from a gap in education: Law 10,639 made teaching Afro-Brazilian and African history and culture mandatory, but schools still had few tools for it. The game was designed for two audiences, people playing at home and school networks, with sales through stores like Steam and Epic Games and licenses for schools.

In 2020, the project was one of 27 approved in the Centelha program in Bahia, out of 932 applicants, with an R$ 65,000 plan to build the MVP. As coordinator, I handled management, visual identity and layout, schedule tracking and reporting to FAPESB.
